Advantage of direct current for DMX512 led lights:
1.Difference of alternating current and direct current
1.1 Preceding stage of AC has rectification smoothing circuit , so the efficiency is low, and the temperature of power module is higher. It’s increase the heat of the whole lamp.
1.2. Interference of AC Input Common Mode Voltage is big, it obstruct DMX512 signal, and bad for trouble clearing. The handling is add signal to isolation circuits. But that will increase cost.
1.3 The input voltage will fluctuate follow electric supply and effect stability of Power Module if input alternating current.
2. Effect of DC24V supply to cable, model selection and quantity of switching power supply.
2.1 The use of cable same with AC24 power supply, DC power supply wireless capacitance loss, no electromagnetic wave form of power loss, no reactive power. With same distance, line depressurization of DC24V is smaller than AC24V.
2.2 The power supply of switching power supply is more stable and reliable than transformer.Transformer output voltage follow the fluctuation of input voltage. Switching power supply in the rated power range, the input voltage range (90V-260VAC), the output voltage is constant, not affected by the size of the load power, more adaptable.Transformer with the size of the load, the output voltage changes, when the DMX512 changes, the output power of the size of the difference is very large, resulting in unstable output voltage.In the actual use of the project, often a variety of failures. 2.3 The amount of switching power supply depends on the wattage, according to the actual power * 1.5 = switching power supply.
2.4 Switching power supply is recommended to be installed in the control room, if distance too far, low voltage transmission voltage drop too much, the cost is too high, can also be placed closer to the location of the light, requiring dry, safe and reliable. Requires same with AC transformer.
